Help Save Ash Meadows, a Desert Oasis💧

Picture This: Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, the largest oasis in the Mojave Desert, a beacon of biodiversity, and a sacred cultural site for Indigenous peoples. It’s a place where life defies the odds, flourishing in one of Earth’s harshest environments.

Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a crown jewel of Southern Nevada and one of the most significant biodiversity hotspots in North America. We need your help to save it.

Ash Meadows is a haven of biodiversity; it’s an ecological wonderland of global importance, home to the world’s most endangered fish species – the Devils Hole pupfish. But this unique desert wetland, a sanctuary for 26 irreplaceable species, is in jeopardy.

Here’s the crisis: Ash Meadows, sacred to the Timbisha Shoshone, Southern Paiute, and along with the livelihoods of over 40,000 residents, is under threat from industrial mining operations. These projects, perilously close to the refuge, risk permanent damage to this vital groundwater ecosystem.

Despite being protected as a wildlife refuge nearly 40 years ago, Ash Meadows remains under serious threat. A rush of unnecessary and dangerous open-pit mining activities are currently being proposed that could harm the vital groundwater that frontline communities depend on for drinking, agriculture, and sustaining local ecosystems.

We believe that such activities pose an unacceptable and unthinkable risk to one of the most unique and vibrant landscapes left on Earth.

This is where you come in. We cannot let this happen. We cannot stand by as the lifeblood of the desert, the Ash Meadows aquifer, faces potential destruction. The time to act is now and we need   your   voice!

Your voice is crucial in this fight for preservation. We’re rallying a coalition of Tribal nations, NGO’s, local communities, and folks,   just like you, to tell Congress and the Department of Interior to take decisive action.

We’re sounding the alarm to the decision-makers in DC: immediate action is required to halt mining activities on lands bordering Ash Meadows. This isn’t just a matter of conservation; it is a critical imperative to defend a unique landscape and safeguard the communities and wildlife that depend on its survival.

This moment calls for urgent and immediate action – your signature is the rally cry for this essential cause. The safeguarding of Ash Meadows can’t wait!

The fate of Ash Meadows and its unique wildlife hinges on our prompt, science-driven intervention. Together, let’s make a monumental impact and preserve the wonder of Ash Meadows!
